CAMERON — The Richmond Senior High School wrestling team tied for fourth place in Wednesday’s Sandhills Athletic Conference tournament.
Wrestling at Union Pines High School, the Raiders recorded 62 points as a team, matching the efforts of Southern Lee High School.
Winning the conference title were the host Vikings with 258 points. The second and third-place teams were Pinecrest (175 points) and Hoke County (132.5 points) high schools, respectively.
Rounding out the standings were sixth-place Scotland (50 points) and seventh-place Lee County (11 points) high schools.
Finding the podium were senior K’Mauri Morgan (215-pounds), junior Jordan Hamilton (190-pounds), sophomore Hayden Smith (144-pounds) and freshman Dylan Nunez (120-pounds).
Morgan won the SAC title in his weight bracket and Nunez placed second. Hamilton and Smith were third and fourth overall, respectively, in his weight class.
The Raiders now await NCHSAA regional seeding. Head coach Andre’ Ellerbe said Morgan, Nunez, Hamilton and Smith are expected to qualify based on their current records.
