ROCKINGHAM — Lots of smiles preceded kickoff at Friday’s homecoming football game at Richmond Senior High School when the homecoming court was introduced.
Ahead of the Raiders’ 49-28 win over Jack Britt High School, the team’s 23-player homecoming court was recognized.
While the players didn’t walk during the ceremony, their homecoming escorts were introduced by Senior Senate members Nicholas Powell and Haras Lockhart.
Joined by family members, the 23 female members of the court walked down the 50-yard line while biographies of each couple were read.
Voted on by the student body, Jayden Hamilton and Makayla Brown were named Homecoming King and Queen.
It was a special night for head coach Brad Denson and associate head coach Greg Williams, whose daughters Jentry Denson and Emily Williams were on the court.
