ELLERBE — Four fall concerts are on the schedule, starting this week, for Picking in the Park.
Bluegrass band The Axe Handlers — featuring Ellerbe resident and series founder Luke Vuncannon — will be performing in Howell Park, on the corner of Main and Page streets (at the stoplight) starting at 6 p.m.
Taco Loco and Cups of Joy Lemonade are slated to be on site.
While there is some seating, attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
Like Hamlet’s Boxcar Concert Series, Picking in the Park features local talent.
The concert series continues Oct. 1 with the Luke Vuncannon Band, playing country, blues and classic rock. Country and classic rock cover band Good Company will perform Oct. 17 and The Sand Band will play beach music classics on Oct. 29.
All shows are free and open to the public.
Vuncannon initiated the music series in his hometown in September 2024, starting with bluegrass, followed by a night of classic rock for the second show. The series also included a gospel performance by the Cameronian Boys.
