ROCKINGHAM — Police say they caught a man breaking into a business early Wednesday morning.
According to the Rockingham Police Department, 29-year-old Dakota Ray Cummings was found breaking into Mi Morenita around 3:45 a.m.
Cummings was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and injury to real property. Richmond County Jail records show a second charge of breaking and entering.
He is being held under a $5,000 secured bond.
Online court records show no other pending charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety Division of Adult Correction show Cummings was first convicted in 2012 of driving while impaired.
The following year, he was convicted of possession or use of drug paraphernalia.
His most recent conviction was in 2017 on a paraphernalia charge and for unathaorized use of a motor vehicle.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
