Pour for a Paw, Saturday, May 12: Humane Society Fundraiser for Spay and Neuter Program

Posted

ROCKINGHAM - The upcoming evening of Saturday, May 12th should be a time for you, your family, and whatever friends you may be lucky enough to have to venture out to Ella’s Ballroom in Rockingham around 7:30 p.m. or so.

Why, you might ask, should myself, my family, and each of the only two friends that I have head out to 503 Rockingham Road that night?

‘We aren’t members, and don’t recall any particular invitation, engraved or otherwise, that requested the honor of our presence at this particular soiree,’ you may say.

How about if you were offered great food, great drink, great ambiance, great company, great entertainment, and, oh yeah – a REALLY great and worthy cause, all for a quite reasonable cost (that ultimately goes toward the “great and worthy cause” that we just mentioned anyway)?

The Humane Society of Richmond County (HSRC) is channeling each and every one of these  afore-cited magical fun-time equation elements into one place at one time just for your personal enjoyment.

Well, maybe not JUST for your personal enjoyment.  See, we have this problem in Richmond County - no different than most places, I would presume, but definitely here: many of our furry friends of the normally semi-domesticated variety tend to propagate their respective species far too often and in a much more prolific manner than is deemed optimal by animal husbandry experts (e.g., our very own HCRC, etc.).

It is very seldom, though, that any of the dogs or cats have a valid credit card to swipe at the clinic or reliable transportation to get them there, and, since they lack the necessary opposable thumbs, the “do-it-yourself in the privacy of your own home” option is not viable either, so … we homo sapiens have to lend a hand (kinda literally) and help them to find a way to get the “snip and clip” procedures that will help to alleviate the problem of overpopulation(s) to some degree.

Which brings us back to Ella’s Ballroom on Saturday – this gala event will, with YOUR help and attendance, generate funds necessary to support the enhancement and expansion of the application of the spay (females) and neutering (males) procedures that will ultimately benefit all of us.

But calm yourself for the moment and dial down the excitement level a notch or two for now.  The festivities won’t commence until Saturday (May 12th) at 7:00 p.m., BUT, for the mere pittance of $20 per person, you will receive a tasty Italian meal, access to a cash bar for beer and wine (donated by Little River Winery), and a night of “rocking out with the always amazing Paula Carlson” (as noted in the HSRC advertisement).

You have the option to purchase a table of 4 ($150) which includes a complimentary bottle of wine, reserved seating and  great meals for 4.

We also have a table for 8 ($250) which includes meals for 8 with 2 bottles of complimentary wine and reserved seating.

The tables will sell out quickly so please let us know ASAP if you want one.

Door prizes will be available for some lucky winners as well, but the true meaning underlying the evening of fun entertainment, good food and drink, and just socializing with wonderful people like yourself will be dedicated to the mutual concern that we all have for the well-being of animals in general and the dog and cat populations in particular.

So, come out and join us this Saturday, May 12th as we “Pour for a Paw” from 7-10:30 p.m. at Ella’s Ballroom, located at 503 Rockingham Road, Rockingham, NC.

Tickets are available via www.PayPal.me or by calling (910) 206-0476 or at the door.
