ROCKINGHAM — The first bit of live action of Richmond Senior High School’s winter sports season will be held Tuesday.
Richmond’s girls’ basketball team and second-year head coach Taneika Reader will host a pre-season jamboree on Veterans Day.
Utilizing the school’s original gym and its new auxiliary gym, Richmond will host three non-conference teams, as well as one Mid-South Conference opponent.
Joining the Lady Raiders, who will field an A team and a B team, will be Anson, Hoke County, Scotland and Union Pines high schools.
The first scrimmages will start at 11 a.m. and run through the start of the final scrimmages of the day, which are slated for a 3:35 p.m. start.
Richmond’s A team is scheduled to play Union Pines (11 a.m.) and Anson (1:30 p.m.). The B team will scrimmage against Hoke (11 a.m.) and Scotland (1:30 p.m.).
The day will conclude with both of Richmond’s teams competing in an intrasquad scrimmage (3:35 p.m.).

The Lady Raiders officially open their season Saturday, Nov. 22 at New Hanover High School. That game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
