DOBBINS HEIGHTS — A local pastor will be celebrating her birthday with a community event that includes a prescription drug takeback.
Apostle Linda Ross Day is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26 at the Dobbins Heights Community Center, 222 Earle Franklin Drive.
The event honors Ross and her husband, Pastor Mordecai Ross, of Assembly Outreach in Dobbins Heights, for their contributions to the community.
In addition to gifts and giveaways, there will also be food and vendors, as well as a prescription takeback in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield-North Carolina.
BCBSNC representative Michael Cotten will be joined by Sheriff Mark Gulledge and District Attorney Jamie Adams “to oversee and conduct the chain of custody process,” according to a press release.
Accepted items include over-the counter medications, pills, patches, capsules and sealed liquids. The following items will not be accepted: needles; illicit drugs; aerosols; or medical waste.
No questions will be asked of those who turn in items.
(NOTE: Linda Ross is a candidate for the Richmond County Board of Commissioners.)
