ROCKINGHAM — Investigators have charged a man for allegedly pawning stolen jewelry.

According to an arrest warrant, 39-year-old Mark Allen Guthrie, of the Ellerbe area, pawned $2,000 worth of rings, bracelets and necklaces belonging to a woman at two pawn shops in Rockingham on Dec. 23, 2025.

The warrant — issued to a detective with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 8 — does not state how much Guthrie allegedly received.

Guthrie was arrested Jan. 12 and charged with one felony count each of possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretenses less than or equal to $100,000.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 29.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Guthrie is currently serving an 18-month suspended sentence following a conviction on charges of felony breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering on Oct. 27, 2025.

In 2017, Guthrie was convicted in Cumberland County on: 10 counts of attempted trafficking in a Schedule I controlled substance; two counts of aiding and abetting trafficking in a Schedule I controlled substance; five counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud; and one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen goods.

Guthrie was also convicted on one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud in Hoke County.

In 2019, his probation was revoked in Robeson County and he was incarcerated for less than five months.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
