ROCKINGHAM — The next official list of inductees of the Raider Athletic Hall of Fame was announced this week.

James Johnson, Richmond Senior High School’s athletic director, released the list of 12 former players, coaches and legacy members who are part of the second induction class.

Making up the Class of 2025, are, in alphabetical order: Charlie Bishop, Charlie Brownley, Summer Burgess, Charlie Davis, Dannell Ellerbe, Chuck McLean, Pamela Morrison, Michael Waddell, Bunny Wall, Nikki Wells Smith, Perry Williams and Wayne Williams.

Eight of the inductees fall under the former athlete category — Burgess, Davis, Ellerbe, McLean, Morrison, Waddell, Wells Smith and Perry Williams.

Bishop and Wayne Williams will be inducted as coaches, while Brownley and Wall will be recognized as legacy members.

Richmond held open nominations in late January and early February before the selection committee narrowed the class down to the 12 inductees.

“Our Hall of Fame inductees come from a variety of sports and generations, spanning decades of Richmond Senior High School athletics,” Johnson said. “They’ve made a real difference in our school and community, setting an example for future athletes to follow.”

The Raider Athletic Hall of Fame started as an idea by former principal Jim Butler shortly before the pandemic. It became a reality in 2023 when the school inducted its inaugural 12-member class.

Johnson said tickets for the May 12 event at The Cole Auditorium will go on sale soon.
