ROCKINGHAM — The Marching Raiders are tag-teaming with a regional wrestling promotion.
Wrestling With Purpose is promoting “A Raiders Roar,” scheduled for Friday, April 10 at Richmond Senior High School, to raise money to purchase new uniforms for the band.
According to its Facebook page, WWP is a faith-based and family friendly company that specializes in fundraisers and charity wrestling events.
Last week, WWP hosted a fundraiser for the Rape Crisis Center of Robeson County and has a show next month with proceeds going toward the ScotlandHigh School amatuer wrestling program.
The full card has yet to be released, but based on several social media posts, the show will include: a six-man tag match with Bobby Wohlfert, Ochio “OG” Giovanio and Tungsten Redd facing the high-flying trio of AaronCK, Victor Guerrero and Bret Locklear; and Richmond Senior grad Tripp Cautious taking on WWP Fighting Spirit Champion Sawdust.
Tag Team champs Tre G and George South of Team Pitbull have also issued an open challenge for the belts.
For a little more star power, the event is billed to feature The Andersons. C.W. Anderson has wrestled for WWE, WCW and ECW, and Brock Anderson — son of the legendary Arn Anderson — has been with AEW. The two have worked together in TNA.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and belltime is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Admission is $10, with children 5 or younger getting in free.
Organizers have secured several local sponsors including Julia Mudd of Coldwell Banker, Chick-fil-A of Rockingham, Godfather’s Pizza, Webster & Sons Pools & Spas, Little One's Boutique & More, Kay’s Variety Store, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Bostick Towing.
In the past, the band booster club has run concessions at local wrestling shows to raise money; and in 2024, local promotion WCEW held a fundraiser for the Raider baseball team.
