ROCKINGHAM — The basketball courts at Richmond Senior High School will be sites of a lot of summer development action this week.
Richmond’s boys’ and girls’ basketball programs are set to host the annual Raider Classic Jamboree Tuesday and Wednesday.
Put on by head coaches Donald Pettigrew and Taneika Reader, the Raider Classic Jamboree will feature some of the region’s top talent over two days of basketball. Courts in both gyms will be used.
The Lady Raiders will scrimmage three times both days, while the Raiders will scrimmage three times Tuesday and have two squads each scrimmage twice Wednesday (A Team and B Team).
Each scrimmage will operate on 16-minute halves with a running clock, with each team allowed two 30-second timeouts per game.
The clock will stop in the final minute of each scrimmage and overtime rules dictate sudden death following a jump ball.
Shooting fouls will be awarded one free throw opportunity until the final minute of each game, when regular two foul shot rules will be implemented and carried into overtime, if necessary.
The cost per person is $10 per day and concessions will be available throughout both days of the event.
