ROCKINGHAM — With the return of Richmond Raider football from its bye week, the coaching staff also returned to recognizing Players of the Week.
It was an easy outing for the Raiders to start Mid-South Conference play last Friday, which resulted in a 53-8 blowout win over Pine Forest High School.
Leading 47-8 at halftime, Richmond initiated the running clock for the entirety of the second half.
This week’s Players of the Week are:
Offense: Chance Crowder (junior running back)
Defense: CJ Covington (sophomore defensive back)
Special Teams: Zamarion Robinson (senior linebacker)
Practice: Tyrese Collins (senior running back)
Weight Room: Ty Covington (sophomore defensive back)
Crowder had two first-quarter rushing touchdowns in the win, two of the five total rushing scores the team had. CJ Covington had three tackles and one tackle-for-loss, and Robinson’s efforts blocking on kick returns didn’t go unnoticed.
Presenting each Player of the Week with a t-shirt were Rex and Jill Crouch of Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym.
Homecoming is scheduled for Friday, as the Raiders (4-2, 1-0 MSC) host Jack Britt High School (3-3, 0-1 MSC) at 7:30 p.m.
