RAIDER ROLL CALL: Week 9 Players of the Week honored

Raiders return to practice ahead of meeting with Overhills

ROCKINGHAM — Five Raiders were named Players of the Week by Richmond Senior High School’s football coaching staff Monday.

Friday’s business trip ended in a 48-17 win for the Raiders over Hoke County High School, their fifth straight win.

Recognized at the end of practice, this week’s honorees were:

Offense: Keonta Pegues (senior wide receiver)

Defense: Elijah Ingram (junior linebacker)

Special Teams: Jason Gainey (senior defensive end)

Practice: Esaias Brunson (senior defensive tackle)

Weight Room: Jamaury Jones (junior offensive lineman)

Pegues made six catches for 141 yards, including a 67-yard catch-and-run touchdown along the right sideline. In the kickoff and punt return game, Pegues had 58 combined return yards.

Ingram and Gainey, both on the defensive side of the ball, helped hold the Bucks to just three points in the first half. 

Finishing with nine total tackles (six solo, three assists), Ingram had a new single-game career-high. Gainey had four total tackles (three solo, one assist), with several of them coming on kickoff returns.

Presenting the players with a t-shirt were Rex and Jill Crouch of Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym.

Richmond (6-2, 3-0 Mid-South Conference) travels to Overhills High School (3-5, 1-2 MSC) Friday at 7:30 p.m.
