Raiders Roll Call: Week 9 players of the week

Posted

ROCKINGHAM — Following the Richmond Senior High School football team’s sixth straight win, five players were named “players of the week” by the coaching staff.

Rolling past Lee County High School 48-21 in Week 9 on Oct. 18, the Raiders secured at least a share of the Sandhills Athletic Conference title.

Since then, Richmond and head coach Brad Denson have spent the past week on their bye.

Beginning Monday, the Raiders will start game planning for their regular-season finale at home against Scotland High School.

The players of the week are:

Offense: Domonic Tillman (junior quarterback)

Defense: Chris Covington (senior defensive back)

Special Teams: Javion Smith (senior running back)

Practice: Amer Morrison (junior wide receiver)

Weight Room: Jordan Hamilton (junior defensive end)

Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym, which sponsors the weekly shoutout of the Raider football players, presented each of the players of the week with a t-shirt.

Denson and the Richmond football staff select each week’s players based on performance in their respective area.

The Raiders (7-2, 5-0 SAC) can win the outright SAC crown with a win Friday at home against Scotland (4-5, 3-2 SAC). Kickoff for senior night is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
