WINSTON-SALEM — The Richmond Senior High School boys’ indoor track and field team placed on the podium in five different events during the Mid-South Conference championship meet Friday.
One of four teams competing in the inaugural conference meet, the Raiders secured 45 points and placed third overall.
Winning the team title was Pinecrest High School (173 points) and Hoke County High School placed second (63 points). Finishing fourth behind Richmond with 20 points was Pine Forest High School.
The Raiders recorded one individual conference championship and had four second-place finishes.
Junior Elijah Ingram secured Richmond’s lone individual title and eight points in the shot put, which was also his first career conference title for indoor field events. He brought home the win with a distance of 43 feet, 6.75 inches.
Senior Keonta Pegues combined for 12 points with a pair of second-place times in two events. He set a new personal record time of 6.55 seconds in the 55-meter dash and followed that with a second-place distance of 21 feet, 3 inches in the long jump.
Richmond’s other two second-place results came courtesy of the 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relay teams.

Those same four runners combined for another season-best time in the 4x400 race, clocking in at 3:37.73 for second overall.
Ingram, Pegues and all the runners on both relay teams were named to the All-MSC team.
The Raiders are scheduled to run in an outdoor meet Saturday at Union Pines High School.
