Railroad crossing on N.C. 177 north of Hamlet slated to close July 15

HAMLET — A portion of N.C. 177 is scheduled to be closed an entire day for railroad upgrades next month.

According to Southern Commercial Development, which handles traffic control for CSX Transportation, a crossing will be temporarily closed for the installation of a new panel.

The crossing is located between County Home Road and E.V. Hogan Drive, north of Hamlet. It is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. July 15 and reopen at 6 a.m. the following day.

No traffic will be allowed to cross the track until the work is complete, according to an email sent June 29.

Signs will be posted to mark detour routes.

The email also notes that closure dates are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
