ROCKINGHAM —  The threat of afternoon and evening thunderstorms on Tuesday caused a postponement to the start of the Richmond Raider baseball team’s final week of the regular season.

Head coach and athletic director Rob Ransom confirmed that Tuesday’s road game at rival Scotland High School has been pushed to Wednesday. The game is still scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.

As a result, Wednesday’s originally scheduled game against non-conference Lumberton High School has been canceled and will not be made up.

Richmond’s junior varsity baseball team was supposed to host the JV Fighting Scots on Tuesday, and will now also play on Wednesday, beginning at 5 p.m.

Both squads will wrap up their respective regular-season campaigns on Thursday against Scotland. The varsity Raiders (13-5, 5-5 SAC) will welcome in the Fighting Scots (16-4, 8-2 SAC) at 7 p.m.

In JV action, Richmond (10-4) will make the trip to Laurinburg and play the JV Fighting Scots at 5 p.m.

Girls’ soccer match still scheduled for Tuesday

At the time of publication, the Richmond varsity and junior varsity girls’ soccer teams are still scheduled to play at home on Tuesday against Union Pines High School, according to head coach Chris Larsen.

The JV Lady Raiders (6-2, 4-1 SAC) are slated to start at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity Lady Raiders (8-8-1, 3-5-1 SAC).
