ROCKINGHAM — A Richmond County woman is accused of selling food stamp benefits and claiming that her card was stolen.
An arrest warrant obtained by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office alleges that 30-year-old Quanasia Sade Roundtree, of East Rockingham, sold her electronic food and nutrition benefits on or about June 6.
The warrant also alleges that Roundtree filed a false report with the sheriff’s office for obtaining property by false pretenses, claiming that her card had been stolen and used.
The arrest warrant was issued Sept. 16, charging Roundtree with a felony count of buying, selling or distributing food stamps and a misdemeanor count of filing a false report to a police station.
Roundtree was arrested the same day the warrant was issued and is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail due to charges already pending. She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 10.
Court records show Roundtree was charged with misdemeanor counts of assault and battery and second-degree trespassing in August of 2025, as well as misdemeanor child abuse in September of 2025.
Online court records show Roundtree also has multiple traffic citations in late ‘25 and throughout 2026, including several counts of driving while license revoked and not having insurance.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Roundtree’s only prior conviction was for misdemeanor larceny in 2013.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
