ROCKINGHAM — A woman and two juveniles are facing charges in a shooting-turned-wreck from earlier in the week.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a Mill Road convenience store in East Rockingham late the night of June 19.
Witnesses reportedly told deputies that someone in one of the vehicles of the store’s drive-thru was shooting rubber or gel pellets from a toy gun toward the back of the store.
A second vehicle pulled in line and two unidentified males got out — one armed with a rifle, the other with a handgun — and approached the first vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.
There was reportedly an argument and the man armed with the rifle fired one shot toward the driver and another into the vehicle.
The first car reportedly took off down Mill Road and the two suspects allegedly got back into their vehicle and left down South Street.
A short time later, the Rockingham Police Department responded to a wreck on Old Cheraw Highway and, while treating the victim, reportedly discovered he had a gunshot wound on his leg.
Meanwhile, deputies obtained security video and were able to identify a suspect vehicle.
Investigators were able to identify the driver of the vehicle with the two suspects as 55-year-old Lisa Ann Hudson, of Rockingham. She was arrested Thursday, June 20 and charged with one felony count each of aiding and abetting and conspiracy.
Hudson was released on a $25,000 unsecured bond.
The two juveniles were taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and assault by pointing a gun.
Hudson is scheduled to appear in court July 13.
Online court records show Hudson also has pending traffic violations for failure to wear a seat belt and failure to secure a passenger under 16 years of age.
Hudson appears to have no prior convictions in the state.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
