ROCKINGHAM — Investigators have charged a woman accused of having sexual relations with minor on New Year’s Eve.
An arrest warrant alleges that 22-year-old Justice Tierria Steele, of Rockingham, had intercourse with a 14-year-old on Dec. 31, 2025.
The warrant, charging Steele with one felony count each of statutory rape of a child 15 or younger and taking indcent liberties with a child, was issued to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 9.
Steele was arrested Feb. 10 and booked into the Richmond County Jail where she is currently being held without bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 12.
Court records show Steele was also charged with a felony probation violation. She was given a 36-month suspended sentence in October 2023 when she was convicted in Stanly County on two counts of assault on a public official — one misdemeanor, one felony.
She appears to have no other pending charges or prior convictions.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
