RCSO: Dog finds more human remains in Cordova area

CORDOVA — One missing persons case from late 2024 is back in the spotlight after more remains have turned up.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday that a dog found part of a pelvic bone in the Cordova area on Sunday, Feb. 15.

This is the same dog that reportedly found a human skull in March 2025 that was identified as belonging to Linda Ann McCusiston, investigators also confirmed.

The sheriff’s office is working with the medical examiner to determine if the pelvic bone, like the skull, is part of McCuiston’s remains.

McCusiston was reportedly last seen Oct. 11, 2024 in her yard on Country Canyon Drive.

A preliminary search was conducted the weekend she went missing and another search for remains was organized after the skull was found. Despite the use of cadaver dogs, the latter search turned up no substantial clues.

Investigators say a tracker had been placed on the dog that found the bones at one point, but that effort was unsuccessful. However, they are reportedly working with the family to try it again.

The sheriff’s office is also planning to organize another search of the area in the near future.

Investigators say there is currently no evidence of foul play, but that could change if and when more remains are found.

Earlier this month, the Richmond County Board of Commissioners allocated $40,000 to Richmond County Crime Stoppers to be used in missing persons cases.

Sheriff Mark Gulledge said that those cases also remain open.
