ROCKINGHAM — A man is facing criminal charges, accused of inappropriate acts with a teenager.

Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have charged 47-year-old Christopher David Pedley, of Rockingham, with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

According to the sheriff’s office, the charges stem from the investigation of a report that Pedley had “inappropriate contact” with a 14-year-old.

No other details were included in the press release and Pedley’s warrants had not been returned to the Clerk of Court’s office on Thursday afternoon.

Pedley was arrested March 20 and the press release states he was booked into the Richmond County Jail and held without bond. However, Pedley did not appear in online jail records on March 22. He is scheduled to appear in court March 28.

Online records appear to show Pedley has no other pending charges or prior criminal convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
