HOFFMAN — A man was airlifted for treatment after reportedly being shot Saturday night.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about a shooting on Garry Street just after 9 p.m. March 22.

Deputies were reportedly told that the victim, 37-year-old Tarvarus Deangelo Toomer, of Hoffman, was en route to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

As deputies were on their way to the scene, telecommunicators with the Richmond County 911 Center contacted the Aberdeen Police Department, who met up with the victim on N.C. 5 and provided care until an ambulance could arrive.

Investigators say Toomer, who was shot in the lower torso during a disagreement, was transported to a trauma center.

A person of interest had been identified, but not yet interviewed as of 4 p.m. Monday.

No charges have been filed and the case is still under investigation.
