HAMLET — Five students from Richmond Early College High School have been selected for the North Carolina Governor’s School, an opportunity that brings together some of the state’s most talented high school students for a summer of advanced learning and collaboration.
With only a select number of students invited each year, having five from one school accepted is an exciting achievement.
The summer program provides students with a learning experience unlike any other, blending classroom discussions with hands-on exploration, guest speakers, and seminars that encourage students to see their subjects from new perspectives.
"We are so proud of these students for being accepted into the N.C. Governor’s School," shared Early College Principal Joy Harrelson. "This is a unique experience that will challenge them in new ways and allow them to grow both academically and personally. I know they will represent our school well, and we look forward to hearing about all they gain from it."
Beyond academics, students experience life on a college campus, forming friendships with peers from across the state while participating in social events, recreational activities, and other shared experiences.
Participation in this residential program is often a stepping stone to future academic and leadership opportunities, with many students going on to competitive college programs, scholarships, and careers that build on the skills they develop during the summer.
