HAMLET — Two longtime municipal employees were honored for the years of service to the Seaboard City at last week’s City Council meeting.
Gary Blue and Danny Nesbitt were each presented plaques by Mayor Amy Guinn on Jan. 14 in recognition of their retirement.
Blue worked for the city for 25 years in the Public Works Department, and Nesbit was an employee for 20 years in the Water Department.
“Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, you’ll be missed,” said Guinn.
After reading the plaques, Guinn stepped down from the dais to present them to each recipient, as the crowd gave a standing ovation.
Hamlet is also seeking to fill three vacancies on the city planning board. All applicants must live in the city limits or the extraterritorial jurisdiction.
Applications are available on the city’s website and due Monday Feb. 13. They can be turned in at City Hall or mailed to hhawks@hamletnc.us.
