Reward offered in 2018 Moore County murder case

RALEIGH — The state is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for a Moore County murder two years ago.

According to a Monday press release from Gov. Roy Cooper’s office , police found the body of 22-year-old Jalen Isiah Leach on May 8, 2018 on a walking path behind the Brookside Park apartment complex in Southern Pines after responding to a call of a deceased person.

Leach, of Cameron, was reportedly found with at least one gunshot wound.

Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Southern Pines Police Department at 910-693-4110 or the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation at 919-662-4500.

The governor's office announced Friday that the state is also offering a reward in the July murder of a 9-year-old Chowan County girl and the shooting of her mother.
