ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 20, 2025 from 11:30-1 p.m., to celebrate the opening of Goshen Medical Center’s new Rockingham clinic.
Goshen Medical Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center committed to providing high quality, affordable healthcare across Eastern North Carolina. The new Rockingham location expands Goshen’s mission to offer accessible services, including primary care, pediatrics, dental care, behavioral health, and pharmacy support. The clinic’s staff includes local professionals who understand the needs of Richmond County residents and are dedicated to supporting the health of the community.
Chamber President and CEO Kristi King welcomed attendees and acknowledged the County Commissioners, City of Rockingham officials, and Chamber board members.
“On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, I want to thank you for inviting us here today. This is a very exciting day for Richmond County. It’s a beautiful building, and we appreciate your commitment, your investment, and your dedication to the people of this community.” King said.
Rockingham Mayor John Hutchinson followed, expressing his enthusiasm about the project and the broader impact it will have on community health and economic development.
“We’re excited about this growth. Goshen’s presence has allowed us to open the new area for development. You have a beautiful facility here, absolutely first rate, and we are very excited about that,” Hutchinson said. “If you connect the dots of the last couple of years, there are a lot of things in place for Richmond County and for Rockingham, several restaurants opened this summer, you’ve seen renovations of existing businesses this summer, you’ve seen national chains opening here that we haven’t had here before.
"You’ve seen things like Goshen open, so Richmond County is a wonderful place that is open for business. Rockingham is excited to be a part of this and we invite you to call on us any time that we may be of service.”
Dr. Rick Watkins, chairman of the Richmond County Board of Commissioners, also highlighted the importance of expanding healthcare access.
“It is a pleasure to be here with you today on behalf of the Richmond County Board of Commissioners,” Watkins said. “I’m also pleased to have Commissioner Gathings and Commissioner Smart here with me to let you know how much we value Goshen, your investment in Richmond County, and your commitment to healthcare in rural communities all across eastern North Carolina.
"The needs for healthcare in rural communities are tremendous, and so when you look at Goshen, you’re talking about pediatric care, geriatric care, dental care, these are things that families and communities truly need to have. We are grateful for your commitment ot local healthcare.”
Goshen Medical Center’s CEO, Greg Bounds, closed the program by speaking about the organization’s roadmap and dedication to community care.
“We serve the community, we serve everyone,” Bounds said. “We try to attract everyone in the community even if they have options to go anywhere. So we are also providing for the neediest of people, with the highest quality and the most respect, and with the best service they can get.”
