ELLERBE — The Richmond County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 9, from 1 to 3 p.m., to celebrate the re-opening of RiverStreet’s Ellerbe location.
RiverStreet is proud to celebrate its updated office, which now features a welcoming space for customers to ask questions, pay bills, and explore service options with their local team. All employees at the Ellerbe office are local residents — people who understand the needs of the community and are passionate about helping it grow.
Chamber President and CEO Kristi King welcomed attendees before introducing Ellerbe Mayor Brenda Capel, who expressed enthusiasm about RiverStreet’s return.
“I’m excited RiverStreet is coming back,” Capel said. “Not only will we have services, but customer service right across the street. I’m just elated to find out this good news.”
Richmond County Commissioner Chairman Rick Watkins emphasized the broader impact of RiverStreet’s investment.
“The digital divide is a real deal, and we’ve made sure that whenever grant funding was available, the county applied,” said Watkins. “We’ve worked to bring those grants into Richmond County to support infrastructure projects that get internet into homes. This reopening opens the gateway to the world for all of our customers.”
Mike Meinel, vice president of Marketing for RiverStreet, also shared details about the company’s growing footprint in Ellerbe.
“Right across the street, that will be a customer service center, a support center. That will not be open to the public,” said Meinel. “But again, we have invested in that building too, so it will have approximately 10 or more employees at any time working in that building.”
“Since acquiring the company in 2018, we have made a lot of enhancements,” Meinel said. “We should be done building our fiber cable here this summer, so that is a huge deal for not just residential customers, but business customers too.”
