HAMLET — Richmond County Crime Stoppers invites residents to the Seaboard City for its fourth annual Kick-Off to Summer.
The free community event, scheduled for 4-7 p.m., will coincide with Hamlet’s TGIFood Trucks on Main and a cruise-in.
The water-filled fun day at Main Street Park will feature “plenty of splash-worthy activities including a waterslide, Hamlet Fire Department’s Super Soaker and water games, as well as a 50/50 raffle. There will also be a demonstration by PKSA Karate.
Food trucks start serving at 11 a.m. and include: Mama Blair’s; Chinese Food and Dulce’s Delicias; Nana and Pawpaw's Kettle Corn and Ms. Sheilas Orangeade and Lemonade; Tacos Mr. Pancho; Max's Millstone BBQ; and Soda Fusion.
During the event, Main Street will be closed from Bridges Street to the intersections with McDonald Avenue and Palmetto Wye.
Crime Stoppers is an all-volunteer organization that is supported through donations, grants and fundraisers to pay out rewards for anonymous tips through the P3 app leading to arrests for local crimes.
In 2023, Crime Stoppers was awarded a $5,000 grant from Pee Dee Electric and was the recipient of proceeds from a WCEW wrestling event, and in 2024 received a grant from the Rockingham Rotary Club.
Financial support also comes from the Rockingham and Hamlet police departments and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
