ROCKINGHAM — A South Carolina man is facing a felony charge, accused of damaging Duke Energy property.

According to a magistrate's order, a call was made to 911 on Oct. 29 to report that it appeared a man was “messing with” a utility pole, “possibly stealing wire.”

The arresting deputy stated in the order that 40-year-old Brandon Kyle Maner, of Timmonsville, South Carolina, was beside a Duke Energy power box that had been recently damaged.

According to the deputy, there was a Milwaukee impact driver on top of a power box that featured pry marks. Maner also reportedly had two sets of bolt cutters on the bed of the pickup truck he was using.

The deputy also noted that there was “fresh damage on several other power poles in the immediate area.”

Maner was arrested and charged with injury to public utility property. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond.

Court records show Maner had his first appearance on Oct. 30 and has been appointed an attorney. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 12.

According to court records, Maner has a pending traffic citation for failing to wear a seat belt in Mecklenburg County.

South Carolina court records show Maner has the following prior convictions:

Florence County - possession of less than one gram of meth or cocaine base, first offense (2025); trespassing (2024)

Charleston County - possession of other controlled substance in Schedule I-V (2023)

Berkeley County - third-degree assault and battery, simple possession of marijuana, trespassing (2018)

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
