Richmond County deputies receive certificates

ROCKINGHAM — Two Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were presented with training certificates earlier this week.

According to a social media post from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Paul McDole and Sgt. Richie Watts were both awarded their Intermediate Law Enforcement certificates from N.C. Sheriffs Education and Training Standards Commission.

The certificates were presented Tuesday, according to the post.

McDole serves as a patrol sergeant and also is one of the agency’s K-9 handlers. Watts is the supervisor over the animal control enforcement division.

Certificates are awarded based on an officer’s years of experience plus the amount of professional training and education the officer receives.

“It’s an honor to present these certificates this morning to two dedicated deputies and acknowledge their accomplishments,” said Sheriff Mark Gulledge.
