PINEBLUFF —Sheriff Mark Gulledge is asking for prayers for one of his deputies who was involved in a crash Monday morning in Moore County.

Citing the Pinebluff Police Department, the Sandhills Sentinel reports that the deputy was driving south on U.S. 1 when the driver of a pickup truck turned off of W. Chicago Avenue into the path of the deputy.

The wreck reportedly happened around 7:30 a.m.

The patrol vehicle was flipped on its side and the deputy, according to the Sentinel, crawled out of a hole in the windshield.

Both were reportedly taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst where the driver of the pickup, from Eagle Springs, later died.

It does not appear any names have been released as of 3 p.m.

The RO was unable to reach the Pinebluff Police Department or the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at the time of writing.

The RCSO did issue a brief press release on its Facebook page.

“Please keep all involved in your prayers,” Gulledge said in the release.
