ROCKINGHAM — A man is facing several charges after allegedly shooting and injuring a woman.
According to an arrest warrant, 36-year-old Jesus Lopez Gutierrez, of Airport Road, fired from his vehicle into another vehicle occupied by a woman on Feb. 17. The warrant states the victim received “serious injuries" but there are no specifics.
The warrant does not indicate where the shooting took place. However, the case was investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
Gutierrez was arrested and charged with: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury; discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling or vehicle; discharging a firearm from an enclosure; and assault by pointing a gun.
He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 27.
It appears Gutierrez has no other pending charges or prior convictions in North Carolina.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
