ELLERBE — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with stealing his neighbor’s truck — just days after being convicted of assault.
Wesley Bryan Parsons, 34, is accused of stealing a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado from a yard several homes north of his listed address on Greenlake Road on Jan. 17.
Parsons was arrested and charged with one felony count of larceny of a motor vehicle and one misdemeanor count of second-degree trespassing.
He was booked into the Richmond County Jail where he is being held on a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 21.
Court records show Parsons was convicted of assault and battery Jan. 15, stemming from a Jan. 4 incident. Two counts of assault on a government employee and one count of resisting a public officer were dismissed without leave by the district attorney’s office.
Parsons received credit for the 11 days he served in jail and was released.
Online records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Parsons was convicted in 2023 of possession of drug paraphernalia in Moore County.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
