ROCKINGHAM — A man with several pending charges is accused of threatening two people and assaulting one of them.

According to warrants taken out by the reported victims, they were threatened with physical violence by 36-year-old Jamie Ryan Clodfelter on Thursday, June 26.

Clodfelter was allegedly holding a knife and wooden pole (referred to as a stick in a separate warrant) while making the threats and is accused of trying to drag one of the reported victims out of a vehicle while holding the knife.

Records show Clodfelter was arrested early Friday morning and charged with two counts of communicating threats and one count of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $40,000 secured bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 11.

Online court records show Clodfelter has a pending charge of false imprisonment from April, as well as for reportedly failing to appear in court after being subpoenaed in a case of communicating threats where he was the alleged victim. The defendant in that case, which was dismissed, is the same reported victim in the false imprisonment case.

Clodfelter also has pending charges of violating a protective order and misdemeanor marijuana possession in Moore County. His attorney in that case was granted a motion to withdraw in May.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Clodfelter served four years and two months in prison following a 2019 conviction in Randolph County on charges of first-degree arson, burning personal property, second-degree burglary and larceny after breaking and entering, as well as assault on an officer or state employee.

He was incarcerated again in 2024 on a three-month reimprison violation.

Clodfelter was first convicted in 2009 on misdemeanor charges of criminal contempt and simple assault in Randolph County. His probation was revoked and he spent two months behind bars.

Other prior convictions in Randolph County include:

2010 -  two counts of assault on an officer or government employee (initially a single count of assault with a deadly weapon on a government officer)

2011 - communicating threats

2014 - discharging a firearm into an occupied property, felony breaking and entering; possession of drug paraphernalia

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
