ROCKINGHAM — Four misdemeanor charges have been filed against a man accused of threatening to shoot two women.

According to warrants, taken out by the reported victims, 41-year-old Anthony Dale McPherson pointed a shotgun at the two women and threatened to shoot them on Sept. 28.

The two warrants were issued Sept. 29 charging McPherson with two misdemeanor counts each of assault by pointing a gun and communicating threats.

McPherson was arrested in the early morning hours of Oct. 2 and booked into the Richmond County Jail on a $3,000 secured bond.

Court records show McPherson’s first court appearance was Oct. 2, and his next is scheduled for Oct. 31.

(NOTE: Jail records show separate dates of Oct. 30 and 31. Court records list Oct. 31 in one of the two cases, but no future date was listed for the other at the time of writing.)

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McPherson was first convicted on a felony count of possessing stolen goods in 2001.

He was later convicted of felony larceny in 2008, with his probation being revoked nearly two years later, leading to a five-and-a-half-month incarceration.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
