ROCKINGHAM — A man with a history of drug-related convictions is facing new charges.
Records show that 32-year-old Brentay Qontell McQueen was recently caught with a variety of illegal drugs.
According to an arrest warrant, McQueen was caught with 7 grams of an unspecified opioid, 5.9 grams of cocaine, 20 dosage units of Percocet, and an unspecified quantity of MDMA.
McQueen was arrested Aug. 23 and charged by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office with: trafficking in opium or heroin; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; and possession with intent to sell or deliver MDA/MDMA.
He is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4.
Court records show a waiver of counsel was filed on Aug. 25, though the version posted online appears to be incomplete.
McQueen has several pending cases from 2024, including the following charges: possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana; possession of a stolen motor vehicle; simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; possession of a firearm by a felon; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McQueen was first convicted in 2012 on two counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
McQueen was also convicted of maintaining any place for a controlled substance in 2013 and manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance in 2014.
Records show McQueen was convicted in 2017 of possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance. His probation for that was revoked the following year when he was convicted of selling a Schedule II controlled substance.
