ROCKINGHAM — A man wanted for failing to appear in court is accused of selling an opioid.

William Brandon Dawkins, 46, is accused of selling an unspecified quantity of fentanyl to a confidential informant handled by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on March 21.

The warrant for Dawkins’ arrest — charging him with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, delivering a Schedule II controlled substance and selling a Schedule II controlled substance — was issued on May 13.

Dawkins was arrested June 17 on that warrant, as well as an order for arrest for allegedly failing to appear in court April 3 related to a charge of reconnecting a utility from late 2024.

He is being held in the Richmond County Jail on a combined $4,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court for both cases on July 10.

Dawkins appears to have no other pending charges or prior criminal convictions in North Carolina.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
