Richmond County Partnership for Children is proud to announce that it has recently been awarded funding from Positive Childhood Alliance North Carolina in the amount of $50,000 in total. Funding was awarded by PCANC to support 38 Family Serving Organizations and Family Resource Centers across North Carolina. These grants will enable these organizations to implement new family support programs or expand existing services from Sept. 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This one-time funding opportunity, provided by PCANC in collaboration with the North Carolina Division of Social Services is designed to enhance the capacity of FSOs and FRCs to provide vital support to families, with a particular focus on strengthening communities and connecting organizations with the statewide North Carolina Family Resource Center Network. The total funding awarded through this initiative is $1.8 million, with each organization receiving up to $50,000. The funds will expand our current Circle of Parents activity, to support and fund families whose children no longer fall within the Smart Start provided focus birth to kindergarten. “We do not want the families to come, reach the age of 5 and turn them loose,” said Dr. Katrina Chance, RCPC executive director. “So, what the $50,000 is used for is to help those families continue to stay with us until they’re ready. So, we call that Forever Families.” “At Positive Childhood Alliance NC, we are committed to strengthening families and ensuring that they have access to the resources and support needed to meet their full potential,” said Andrea Clark, prevention networks manager at PCANC. “By investing in these organizations, we are helping to build a stronger, more resilient prevention ecosystem of family support services across the state.” The funded program will address the five protective factors. These initiatives align with PCANC’s mission to advance policies, programs and practices that support well-being for all NC children and families. Throughout the funding period, RCPC will participate in a series of technical assistance activities, including training, consultation, and community of practices, all aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the funded project. PCANC will also work closely with each organization to assess current capacity, set goals and develop comprehensive work plans. This collaborative effort will help ensure that the funded programs significantly impact the communities they serve.
