ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Partnership for children is hitting the lanes for another “FUNdraiser.”
Executive Director Dr. Katrina Chance on Thursday announced “Bowling for Babies,” scheduled for 5:30-8:30 p.m. April 21 at Striker’s Bowling Alley in Rockingham.
The Partnership is seeking teams of four, with a $25 entry fee per participant. Lane sponsorships are also available for $100, with the company logo “displayed throughout the night.”
Proceeds from the event will go toward the Partnership’s mission: “...to ensure every child in Richmond County experiences a healthy birth, receives early education, and benefits from family support to improve overall childhood health and development.”
In addition to having books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, the Partnership also offers the “evidence-based evidence-informed” Reach Out and Read program and hosts a Circle of Parents group.
Last month, the North Carolina Partnership for Children announced that it was seeking additional funding for the DPIL program, with state funds reaching capacity. According to the press release: “The cost to provide a child with a book every month from birth to age five through DPIL is $31.20 per year.”

Last year, the Partnership raised more than $1,000 with Bowling for Books.
Within the past year, RCPC has also received: a $50,000 grant from Positive Childhood Alliance NC to enhance its Family Resource Center; and $1,500 from REV Federal Credit Union during the Seaboard Festival.
