ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Health Department announced the fourth COVID-19-related death late Monday morning.
According to the press release posted on the department’s Facebook page, the patient, a Richmond County resident, was hospitalized in another county and diagnosed last month.
“Please join us in our sympathy for the family and friends of this resident of Richmond County during this most difficult time,” the post concludes.
The county’s first death attributed to COVID-19 was reported on April 10; the second was on April 17; and the third on May 30.
Monday’s totals have not yet been released.
But as testing increases, the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services reported three straight days of record-breaking positive cases — with 1,189 on June 4, 1,289 on June 5, and 1,370 on June 6 — before dropping to 921 new cases on Sunday.
No new cases in the county were reported by the Health Department on Sunday, but there were five new cases announced Friday and four on Saturday, bringing the county’s total to 183.
Of the total, 114 patients have recovered from the coronavirus.
The Health Department reported that there were 66 active cases, with seven hospitalized and 59 in home isolation.
