ROCKINGHAM — Residents will get a chance to hear from Republican candidates for the Richmond County Board of Commissioners next week.
The Richmond County Republican Party is hosting a candidate forum starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 at the old courthouse in downtown Rockingham.
According to a post on the Facebook event page, nine of the 10 Republican candidates have confirmed they will be there.
The field includes incumbent Commissioners Justin Dawkins, Jason Gainey and Robin Roberts, as well as challengers Terry Lewis, Laverne Schultz, Jesse McQueen, Richard Robinson James Daniels, Melissa Schoonover and Tyrannia “Smackie” Ellerbe.
The forum is free to attend.
The Richmond County Democratic Party is hosting a partisan meet and greet Feb. 9 at the Dobbins Heights Community Center.
And on Feb. 11, the Ashley Chapel Community Center is hosting a Town Hall forum with candidates for the Richmond County Board of Commissioners, county sheriff, Board of Education, district attorney and clerk of court.
