Richmond County Sheriff's Office announces 'Operation Stay Warm'

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is launching an effort to help keep local seniors cozy this winter.

Sheriff Mark Gulledge on Tuesday announced a blanket and heater giveaway, dubbed “Operation Stay Warm.”

“This initiative will focus on our senior population to ensure they have the resources needed to stay warm during this winter season," Gulledge said in a Facebook post.

There will be five pick-up locations throughout the county from 4-5 p.m. on the following dates:

• Jan. 10 - Hoffman BP
• Jan. 15 - Cordova Fire Department
• Jan. 16 - East Rockingham Fire Department
• Jan. 22 - Ellerbe Rescue Squad
• Jan. 23 - Hamlet Memorial Park

Seniors in need of blankets or heaters are encouraged to go to one of the sites.
