ROCKINGHAM — Investigators with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office have filed more than a half-dozen charges against a man accused of having sexual relations with a teenager.
Perry Edward Miller, 48, allegedly engaged in multiple sex acts in late 2024. The reported victim in the case was younger than 15 when the alleged acts started, court documents show.
Miller is also accused of giving the teen alcohol when the reported victim was 15.
An arrest warrant was issued Nov. 4 charging Miller with: three felony counts of statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger; two felony counts each of statutory rape of a child 15 years old or younger and taking indecent liberties with a child; and one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Miller was arrested Nov. 8 and booked into the Richmond County Jail. His bail has been set at $1 million and he is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20.
If or when he is released, Miller is prohibited from having contact with the reported victim.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Miller has no prior criminal convictions in the state.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
