ROCKINGHAM — A woman is facing multiple sex crime charges related to alleged intercourse with and trafficking of a teen.
Stephanie Allen Gibson, 41, of Rockingham, is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old on or about Aug. 1.
The warrant, taken out by a deputy with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, does not identify the gender of the reported victim.
Gibson was arrested Aug. 14 and charged with: two counts of statutory sex offense with a child 15 or younger; statutory rape of a child 15 or younger; indecent liberties with a child; human trafficking of a child victim; and first-degree kidnapping.
She is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4.
Gibson appears to have no other pending charges.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Gibson was first convicted in 2011 of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of communicating threats.
The following year, she was convicted of possession of stolen goods in Montgomery County.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
