ROCKINGHAM — Capt. David Wall was recently appointed to a three-year term on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Jail Administrator’s Association.
Currently administrator of the Richmond County Jail, Wall has more than two decades of experience in law enforcement and public safety.
“It’s an honor to be nominated and appointed to serve on the NCJAA Board,” Wall said in a press release. “I look forward to working with fellow board members and all jail administrators to strengthen our profession, support our staff, and ensure safe, secure, and constitutionally sound jail operations throughout the State of North Carolina.”
According to a press release, the NCJAA is a statewide organization “committed to advancing the field of jail administration through leadership development, legislative advocacy, and the promotion of best practices in detention facility operations.
The NCJAA offers peer support, training, “and a unified voice on critical issues facing local jails.”
Wall’s nomination and appointment was supported by Richmond County Sheriff Mark Gulledge.
The sheriff said Wall “has been a cornerstone of our detention operations working through challenging issues faced by all detention centers.”
“His leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, detention staff, and to continuous improvement of our facility make him an ideal representative for our county and for the state,” Gulledge added.
Wall started his law enforcement career with the Ellerbe Police Department in 1994 and worked there until it disbanded. He later worked for the N.C. Department of Adult Correction from 2009-2013 before joining the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Wall first worked in the Patrol Division before serving nearly a decade as a detective. He was made assistant jail administrator in 2022 and administrator the following year.
