ROCKINGHAM — A man previously convicted of exposing himself is now accused of committing a sex crime against a minor.

According to an arrest warrant, 36-year-old Jeremy Stephon Hargrove, of Ruffin in Rockingham County, took and attempted to take “immoral, improper, and indecent liberties…for the purpose of rousing and gratifying sexual desire” with a girl under the age of 16 on Tuesday, July 15.

The warrant does not give any details on the alleged acts.

The case was investigated by the Rockingham Police Department.

Hargrove was arrested and charged with one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail just before 12:30 p.m. where he is being held on a $25,000 secured bond. Hargrove is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 7.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Hargrove was convicted in 2015 on five counts of indecent exposure in Rockingham County.

Court records show Hargrove pleaded guilty in 2023 to a single count of indecent exposure in Guilford County. That case was from the previous year. Hargrove was given 12 months of unsupervised probation.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
