ELLERBE — A Rockingham man is accused of stealing from a grocery store after previously being told not to be there.

Warrants allege that 38-year-old Dale Demone Lundie stole two packs of ribeye steaks, 12 bottles of Dove soap and nine Dove deodorant sticks from Food King in Ellerbe on Feb. 8. The total value of items allegedly stolen is listed as $245.79.

Lundie allegedly returned to Food King on Feb. 16, stealing an unspecified quantity of meat and body wash valued at $200.

Lundie was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with two counts each of misdemeanor larceny and second-degree trespassing. He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court March 6.

Court records show Lundie has several other pending charges.

He was served with a criminal summons on Feb. 4, charging him with misdemeanor larceny, for allegedly stealing 13 bottles of soap, as well as unspecified quantities of soap products and steak — valued at $550 — from Food King on Dec. 9, 2025.

Lundie also allegedly stole 20 bottles of body wash from the Rockingham Walmart on Nov. 29, 2025. He is charged with misdemeanor larceny and second-degree trespassing in that case, as well.

Records show Lundie is also facing several traffic infractions.

According to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, Lundie was first convicted on two counts of misdemeanor larceny in 2018.

In 2023, Lundie was convicted on one count each of felony and misdemeanor larceny and incarcerated for seven months.

While on parole in 2024, Lundie was convicted on two additional counts of misdemeanor larceny. Weeks prior to that conviction, he went back to prison for three months on a violation. Three months after being let out, he returned for four months on a post-release revocation. He was last released on Sept. 19, 2025.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
