Rockingham man accused of trafficking fentanyl, packaging weed and ecstasy

ROCKINGHAM — A man is facing multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking fentanyl.

A warrant issued Jan. 15  to the Rockingham Police Department alleges that 28-year-old Marion Devonte Ellerbe was recently found in possession of:

  • 28 grams “or more” of fentanyl
  • A sandwich box with 142 dosage units of ecstasy and a bag with 4 grams of ecstasy
  • 931 grams (32.8401 ounces) of marijuana in individual bags
  • 37 dosage units of oxycodone
  • Digital scales, Pyrex mixing cups, clear plastic bags and razor blades

Investigators also reportedly found a Glock 43 9mm and have accused Ellerbe of storing and selling drugs at his Elizabeth Avenue apartment.

Ellerbe was arrested and charged with one felony count each of: trafficking in fentanyl; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver MDMA; possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana; maintaining a vehicle dwelling or place for a controlled substance; and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police have also charged him with one misdemeanor count each of simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail with a court date scheduled for Jan. 29.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Ellerbe has the following prior convictions:

2015 - misdemeanor breaking and entering, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance

2016 - inciting to riot, assault inflicting serious injury

2018 - assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
