ROCKINGHAM — A man with a history of break-ins dating back nearly two decades is accused of doing it again.
Tracy Hairston, 57, allegedly broke into a Ford F-150 owned by Pinhoti, LLC on Aug. 12, stealing a full tool box and a trailer hitch.
Hairston is also accused of breaking into a room at the Economy Inn and stealing a 40-inch Samsung television.
A warrant for Hairston’s arrest was issued Aug. 20 and he was arrested early the next morning, records show.
Hairston is charged with: breaking and entering a vehicle with theft; breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; habitual larceny; and habitual breaking and entering.
He remains in the Richmond County Jail on a $25,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4.
Online court records show Hairston has pending charges of communicating threats, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving to endanger and driving while impaired.
Hairston’s most recent conviction, according to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, was in 2023 for misdemeanor larceny.
He was first convicted in 1993 for driving while license revoked in Anson County.
Hairston was convicted in 2007 of felony larceny from the person and in 2009 of misdemeanor larceny. His probation was revoked on the latter conviction and he served one month behind bars.
In 2016, Hairston was convicted of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of felony breaking and entering, and one count each of larceny after breaking and entering and obtaining property by false pretenses. And in 2019 of breaking and entering vehicles.
His probation on those cases was revoked later in 2019 when he was convicted on two counts of felony breaking and entering, and he was incarcerated for 10 months.
